"Fountain Livesay, son of Thomas and Margaret Livesay, married Mary [Polly]Handley in 1809,
and in 1833, the couple and their family moved to the vicinity of Napoleon in Lafayette Co. Missouri.
This family was quite prominent in western Missouri affairs. The town of Livasy, Missouri was
named in honor of William Wallace Livesay, one of the sons of Fountain and Mary [Handley] Livesay.
Descendents live in Independence/Kansas City area today. "

In 1842, they moved to a farm two miles south and one mile east of Napoleon, Mo. "A small Boat landing town" on the south side of the MO. River in western LaFayette Co. where they lived the rest of their lives. He appears to
have been a brother of George Livesay, as George visited them several times in Mo. "

He was born near Glasgow, Barren Co., Kentucky and moved when 16 years
old with his parents to We.stern Missouri where he became a wealthy landowner;
2,000 acres of fine land and a house which was quite a show place--"It was
weather-boarded;" holding many slaves who at the end of the Civil War left
his plantation. His parents were William Renick (Sep 5, 1762-1845) and Betsy
Renick (1772-Sep 9, JB22) said to be first cousins. His grandfather was Samuel
Renick, born in Maryland, went to Greenbrier Co., Va., to Crab Orchard,
Kentucky, to Barren Co., Ky. "Stroud" as he was known, had a brother, William
Henry Renick, (May 14, 1808-May 28, 1880) ' who was the father of James William
Renick (husband of Ha-124.21) and of Elizabeth Ann Renick (1833-1889), who be-
came the wife of George Washington Livesay (Ha-124.8). Most of the Livesays
and Renicks of this generation and relationship were buried at the Arnold
graveyeard in Lafayette Co., Mo. In addition to rasing Mary Elizabeth
Livesay (Ha-124.21), Stroud and Becky brought up Joseph, Belle, and Kathleen
Lightner and assisted their brother, John Wil I iam Lightner, to finance hi@3
medical education. All these were children of her sister, Mary Margaret
Livesay (Ha-124.6). During the Civil War, they gave shelter and comfort in
a small house on their farm, to a number of other relatives, including Nancy
Ann Ward, wife of her brother, William Wallace Livesay (Ha-124.7), and their
three small children.

The Renick Book says that they may have known each other in Greenbrier Co. Va/Wva. Sabina
was the grand-daughter of John Handley[1752-1834] and Sarah Campbell Handley, who were close
neighbors of the Renicks at Falling Spring [now Renick, WVA.] Many of the present generation of this family live in the vicinity of Odessa, Lafayette Co. Mo. Both Sarah and Andrew were from Greenbrier
Co. Va. Andrew went to Missouri in 1830. They were married in 1833, shortly after she arrived in Mo. with her parents.
